從本學(xué)年伊始,個(gè)人承擔(dān)了2019級(jí)音樂舞蹈學(xué)院的公共基礎(chǔ)課《大學(xué)英語》的新教材試行教學(xué)。本次所試行的新教材為復(fù)旦大學(xué)出版社的《21世紀(jì)大學(xué)英語S版》。本學(xué)期進(jìn)入了第二冊(cè)的教學(xué),目前正進(jìn)行到第三單元課文詳解和學(xué)以致用的環(huán)節(jié),并利用課余正在積極為第五單元Medical Emergency備課,搜尋及準(zhǔn)備豐富、實(shí)用且能引起大家思考的教學(xué)可利用材料。
在導(dǎo)入部分,我準(zhǔn)備先引導(dǎo)同學(xué)們進(jìn)行一場線上討論,話題就是“How to remain calm in a medical emergency如何在急救時(shí)保持冷靜?”由此灌輸給大家一個(gè)概念,即遇事冷靜,高效搶救。我準(zhǔn)備的總結(jié)發(fā)言內(nèi)容如下:
A medical emergency occurs on its own, outside anyone’s expectation. It’s important to remain calm until the ambulance arrives. The worst thing you can do in any emergency medical situation is panic. Your panic can make things even worse.
Even though you may not know anything about first aid, you can still ask for help. So, for the sake of the victim, remain calm, cool and collected. In this way you can help the first-aid to be more effective and efficient.
Actually, the best thing you can do is to learn now how to deal with an emergency. The more you know now, the more likely you will remain calm later, when an emergency actually arrives.
通過多組近義詞的重復(fù),比如calm, cool and collected,均表示“鎮(zhèn)定的”,強(qiáng)化同學(xué)們遇到緊急情況時(shí)萬不可慌亂,因?yàn)閜anic can make things even worse慌亂只會(huì)讓情況變得更糟;又比如help the first-aid to be more effective and efficient中的effective and efficient,兩個(gè)單詞均表示“高效的”,而高效的搶救是發(fā)生緊急情況時(shí)預(yù)期達(dá)到的最好的結(jié)果,一切行為都應(yīng)為effective and efficient服務(wù)。
在成功植入了“遇事冷靜,高效搶救”的理念之后,我將帶領(lǐng)大家學(xué)習(xí)急救中非常實(shí)用的十句英語表達(dá),并邀請(qǐng)同學(xué)們將這十句話按功能進(jìn)行分類,看它們到底是所屬Asking for Help in an Emergency急救時(shí)尋求幫助用語還是屬于Dealing with the Victim at an Emergency處理受傷者時(shí)常用語。這十句在這里也與大家進(jìn)行分享,看看大家會(huì)怎們分類呢?
1. Don’t move him. Keep him still.
2. Get a first-aid kit.
3. Get the paramedics.
4. Is there a doctor here?
5. Does anyone know CPR?
6. We have to stop the flow of blood.
7. Get some blankets.
8. Call an ambulance.
9. We need some bandages.
10. Can anyone help stop the bleeding?
這十句實(shí)用急救英語里面所包含的關(guān)鍵詞和詞組,也將在課堂上進(jìn)行重點(diǎn)學(xué)習(xí),其中跟急救相關(guān)的有first-aid kit急救包,paramedics醫(yī)護(hù)人員,CPR心肺復(fù)蘇術(shù),ambulance救護(hù)車和bandage繃帶等。除此之外還有舊詞新解,比如still在這里keep sb still應(yīng)解釋為“一動(dòng)不動(dòng)的”,它做此意時(shí)還有一句耳熟能詳?shù)挠⒄Z諺語“still waters run deep”深藏不漏或者大智如愚。
上述學(xué)習(xí)都完成后,期望學(xué)生在課后能兩兩一組,準(zhǔn)備一個(gè)對(duì)話Make a dialogue between Andy and Mary about dealing with a medical emergency. Remember to apply what we have learned in the dialogue.鼓勵(lì)大家在對(duì)話中將新學(xué)的英語知識(shí)進(jìn)行理解,下節(jié)課前會(huì)提前通知哪三組的同學(xué)在課上連麥來展示他們的對(duì)話內(nèi)容。教師將在每組對(duì)話結(jié)束后,就他們英語應(yīng)用的正確性及地道性及發(fā)音等方面的內(nèi)容進(jìn)行實(shí)時(shí)點(diǎn)評(píng),督促同學(xué)們互相學(xué)習(xí),活學(xué)活用,一起進(jìn)步。
當(dāng)然,結(jié)合時(shí)事,還應(yīng)在處理緊急情況時(shí)加上適量新冠肺炎防疫知識(shí)的分享,讓同學(xué)們?cè)诋?dāng)下國內(nèi)疫情緩解國際疫情形勢嚴(yán)峻的大環(huán)境下,千萬不要放松警惕,盡量保持在家隔離不聚會(huì),鍛煉身體勤洗手的良好生活規(guī)律,為我們能早日在終南山下韶光園里的重逢做好一切準(zhǔn)備。 |
